I'm raising public awareness of the license. I don't expect that the rogue UCE distributors be sued, I just expect that they not be able to use the official CE site to advertise their websites, get money from the ads in their UCE popups, etc. etc.

| Sure they can, but that's none of my business because I am not a part of those sites and those aren't official CE sites.

She's treating me as if I'm a special case and have perfect reason to not give out my source, and yet she's basically trying to tell everyone that if they had access to their .exe, then they get to request the source code. No matter the case, no matter how much they've done to depart from CE, etc etc etc.
That includes it being on their site, unless their site is private.
For instance, I can make a private subforum on my site to release new versions in, and only give access to the people who I trust not to request the source. As long as no one gets my engine based from CE that is going to ask for the source, I'm safe.
Thanks for the awareness!

you are are a special case in all the arguments you presented, but under the license mini engine is still a derivative work.

correct.

The only 'major' thing ignoring the open source part of the license does is losing support from several members of the CE community that know how the source works, and removal of this forum and perhaps other sites as well.
Also, when you release your binary you don't have to put the source with it, it only means that if someone aks you for the source for a binary they obtained, you are obliged to give him/her the sourcecode (you could be an ass and print it out and ask for payment for the ammount of paper and the shipping costs)
And of course, it's a matter of good courtesy if you just put the source up on the site...

Sarcasm on the 'thanks for the awareness', sure.
I wasn't being sarcastic when I was talking about... everything you said was correct, basically.
When I was talking about being on a private site, I meant they would only have to give the source to someone who requests it that is allowed access. Simply providing RCE makers an easy way out of getting their code jacked. I wasn't saying that it was a way of getting around giving it to people that have access to the .exe
Edit:
DB: Thanks for the printing idea Another form of hope.

So your saying I can request Uzeil's source code for Mini Engine, given the fact that he has released the CE itself in the past?

Yep, but you can only request for up to 2.2 (which I don't actually have anymore). Which has bugs you won't be able to fix, and you know I would make it a completely unreasonable process for getting the source.
I'd also have to delete fixes at random, and delete entire forms, chunks of code, and unrewrite a lot of code to it's old shitty structure. Just so I can then irritate you more with how tough it would be to get the source, and remind you that you're the reason that v3.0 will never be released publicly to any extent.

It was hypothetical, Uzeil. No need to get worked up just over a question.

I'd request the source for 2.2 which is the binary I have. Not a modified 2.2 meant to fuck things up for me, plain ol' 2.2.
