Unless it's one of those games where the timer needs to run out in order to continue the game...

That's why you write a script.

I see. You mean I should find the code, and use the "Replace" command? Smile

Because the timer is in MinutesMinutes:SecondsSeconds:Milliseconds:Milliseconds Smile

Well you need to find the address(es) that holds the timer value in the first place.

Thought I had found it now, but the game crashed when I Alt-Tab back to it Sad

The game is Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction, if that helps.

I did already with a tool called QuickBMS mod the game to play as the "unplayable" overpowered house robots, and now my target is the timer, to freeze it. Smile

Could I go for the "String" value type? Because then I find the visible timer address :/

Have you tried unknown initial scan and then just increased/decreased and changed/unchanged?

Not "increased by" or anything that requires you to type in the numbers you see. Don't type those numbers in because they're wrong. If they were right you would have it.

Yes, but all minutes, seconds and milliseconds confuse me what value type it is? :S

EDIT: Been trying this for days now, without success Sad I am about to give up on this. Even though the game is from 2001, and it should be real easy to achieve this, but not Sad

Also, the game crashes often when I seem to have found it...

Flash games have a weird preference for floating values in my humble experience. Try unkown floating value and keep searching for decreasing value.

When you really cant get the results down to 200~300 then go for the brute force; add all addresses to the table and start freezing them 20~30 at a time. You will crash the game a lot probably but if you're lucky you can find the right address.

Timers can be a bee-ach.

Actually, there's one timer that says "Time elapsed" and the other when it's 10 seconds left, which is even more confusing :S

No way to tell whether it's a decreasing or increasing timer then, depends on how it's scripted.

Trial and error I'm afraid.

I see. I suppose I have to try changed/unchanged value then, float or 4 byte.

EDIT: However, there is a mode where there is 40 seconds from start, to 0. Maybe that is a clue to that it is decreasing then...

EDIT2: IDEA! Maybe it goes from minus to zero? Would that be possible?

There's not much extra to learn from the picture alone.

Did your float and 4b integer searches come up with anything? If not, perhaps it's a double.

Regarding your earlier question sorry I didnt read it right first time, I have never seen a counter starting negative counting UP to zero. Especially since the onscreen counter counts down thats highly unlikely. Unless meant as some sort of anti-cheat measure and even then there would be easier measures.

It is possible that the counter address changes at every new instance of the counter which means you have 40secs to find the address (and subsequenly initiate the pointer search). As I said before use speedhack or pause to slow the game down then.
