Where the younger party is in love with the older party. Also, 12 <-> 17 is not the same as 20 <-> 25. There is a large gap in terms of puberty. That is what makes this weird. |
it is common and well known in the psicology area that younger girls often fall in love for older guys because since in the early years girls develop generally faster than guys and for the lack of relation with the on age boys and start being conscious about the love for other human being they end up having a crush on an older crush. Often it is platonic but can get manifested if that person is close.
having that said OP said that he is not corresponding it and wants to just keep their friends relationship which is the correct thing to do.
its not weird at all, it is not wrong in any mean. | Yeah man being 17 and hanging out with a 12 year old is A-ok. See, this is why you're a paedophile. |

If you led on every female you hang out with, and there was a twelve year old in the mix, the other women would think you were weird.

What other women?
But seriously, what makes you say he was leading her on? The fact he hung out with her? No such thing as just friends?

The way I see it, its either inexperience or cheesily trying to let a girl down gently. Eitherway, I don't think he is trying to lead her on.

| inexperience and ignorance is no excuse. at the end of the day, you will get the same result. it's entirely his fault. the onus is on him to clearly communicate his intentions

If I didn't know you were 17 I could totally see the guy who hosted to catch a predator reading that.

So you are saying that anything short of "No I do not love you" is irresponsible? As far as I can see, anyone can misconstrue intentions, especially at that young of an age. Does that make her guilty for being hardheaded or mispercieving intetion? Or is he the guilty one for not doing everything in his power for her not to like him? Honestly, theres nothing weird about the situation, young females tend to look up to older males. The only way that turns weird is if the older male returns the attention.
