It's pretty over budget, but just for research purposes you can look at the laptop I'm getting:

It's powerful enough to run literally any game that currently exists, or do other stuff like media editing.

This has a 1.6GHz cpu and why is this not "ancient"?

Because apparently to them an Intel quad core is better than an AMD quad core. lol
I would think an i7 performance with a 1.6 clock is better than a P II x4 at 1.6ghz. If you think the clock speed makes the performance than you are kind of dumb.

No need for insults I know they clock differently but I'm just saying it cant be that much of a performance difference and worth the money I7 is more powerful but for a money saving option AMD has always been cheaper in terms of price.

Its not an insult. It was not directed at anyone in particular. Its an honest fact that performance is not controled by the clock of a cpu.

If op is still looking, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115795 seems to be in the price range that I keep seeing. GTX330m, i5, w7, 4gb ddr3 ram, seems pretty freakin good for under 800.

Well, my mom was willing to buy me a new computer for my birthday like a year ago, but the budget was only around 300 bucks. The best I could get was my computer for $315.00. It came with windows 7 ultimate, above specs, a hardrive with an insane rpm, 9 usb ports and a disc reader/writer. It's also completely silent and it about the size of a large laptop. You have to admit, it's a pretty good deal for $315.00

Stupid fag, if you can't post anything productive, then don't post at all.
Your idiotic comment is the epicenter of retardness and how the hell you're bought into this world is still a mystery.

To OP:
For a portable performance notebook, you can check out the Alienware MX11x

These are mobile quad cores.
And with today's demanding price where consumers want to get things cheap, they're force to go with the slowest piece.

Core i7 quad core for notebooks/Pricing in 1K units.
Which means companies need to buy 1000 pieces of those CPU if they want to get that price.

-Core i7 720QM @ 1.60GHz/TbM: 2.80GHz $364.00
-Core i7 740QM @ 1.73GHz/TbM: 2.93GHz $378.00
-Core i7 820QM @ 1.73GHz/TbM: 3.06GHz $546.00
-Core i7 840QM @ 1.86GHz/TbM: 3.20GHz $568.00
-Core i7 920XM @ 2.00GHz/TbM: 3.20GHz $1054.00
-Core i7 940XM @ 2.13GHz/TbM: 3.33GHz $1096.00

TbM= Turbo Mode

A laptop with a quad only needs 1.6ghz. Most of them also OC easily and have turbo.

Idk, its happening on all pages. ANYWAY, laptops do not need high clocked cpus, even for gaming.
