Imo, the GTX 295 is a waste of money. I would SLI 2 GTX 260s or maybe even 2 GTX 275s. You can save anywhere from $100-$200 that way.

Also, this is just speculation, but I doubt that you need another 6gb of ram. Unless you're doing video editing or something you shouldn't even need anywhere near 6gb.

I've been saving and selling some stuff to get enough money to pay for this build. But it's not the final build I'm gonna tweak it some more come Christmas.

Prebuild:
GPU: MSI N295GTX-2D1792 GeForce GTX 295 1792MB 896 (448 x 2)-bit
Ok first of all, let's change this to 2 GTX 260s, it'll be more friendly to your budget and give more performance than you'll need. Now this leaves you with 200$ extra to upgrade some of the stuff you cheaped out on.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130434
Mobo: MSI X58 Pro-E LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
I would change this to an ASUS P6T;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131359
HDD: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"
Spend the extra 15$ and get this, it's faster.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284&Tpk=caviar%20black%201tb
DVD/CD Burner: 2x LITE-ON 52X CD Burner Black ATAPI/E-ID
Does the job.
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz
It's fine.
PSU: ABS DARK BERET series DB850-M-BRZ Continuous 850W
I haven't heard much about ABS PSUs but you can't go wrong with corsair. Reliable and cheaper than the PSU you picked.
750w corsair ~ 60A on the +12v rail while the ABS has 64A; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006
should be more than enough, room for OCing too
CPU Fan: ZALMAN CNPS9700 (With the 1366 Clip)
Get this instead, performs better + cheaper than the 9700;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233029
Case: Rosewill R220-P-BK Black 0.5mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower
Why cheap out on the case?
Get this one, heard nothing but good things about it + it has lots of room to work with;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160
Monitor: ASUS VH226H Black 21.5" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen
Good monitor.
RAM: OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
With the extra money from saving on other parts, get this corsair ram;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145224
OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit
bleh

You should have about 10$ leftover.
As for the extra HDD, I don't see what you'll need it for unless you're dual/triple booting. But even then, 1TB is alot.
For the extra GPU, no, it won't be worth it because it'll only be running at 4x speed if you put it in tri-sli with this mobo.
Another 6GB of RAM? No unless you're hosting a server. Otherwise 6GB is more than enough.

2x GTX 260s will play anything at uber high settings. Can't see why anyone'd need 2x GTX295s.

thats true, but one GTX 295 should be able to play anything aswell, and when newer games come out, he can just get a 2nd 295 instead of 2 new other ones. But that would take some time lols so i guess either choice is fine. Im planing to get 2x 260s as well so i guess ur right.

No sorry thats not possible to get good preformance.
2x 295 = Quad SLI

First of all anything with quad gives horrible preformance.
Same for tri cores.

This is only for videocards tho.

2x 295? Are you kidding me?
& That would mean quad-sli as humper said because 295 = 280x2

You say "295 = 280x2" so that means 1x295 is still better than 2x260..

and srry Humper didint know that 2x295 wouldint work or give good pref. but oh well then get 2x 260 then=cheaper.

I didn't say it's faster. Yes 295 is two 280 cores in one card.
I was just saying that 295 in SLI would be totally overkill, I have a single 295 and it's waaaay more than enough.

Horrible performance?

No, the performance gain is very real... too bad the scaling isn't linear. If the game isn't hilariously GPU bound, maybe you'd go down a little from the driver overhead.

And how does tri-core magically make performance shit? (it doesn't)

Hey, maybe you could try cutting down the cost of you chassis, could get one below 100US. Unless you do serious overclocking (every day), it is not really nessesary.
