|
| Code: | | Scan error:thread 1:Access violation at address 004A2ED8 in module 'Cheat Engine.exe'. Read of address 7FD71000 |
Well, I've looked and looked for an answer to this, but if it's already out there I apologize for bringing it up again. As it is though, I've been getting that message for months now and haven't been able to figure out how to get CE to play nicely with my new computer (new as of April anyway). The second address isn't always 7FD71000, though it's usually 7FDxx00 (7FD8100 also being common).
I've done everything from running it as an administrator to disabling UAC to messing with compatibility modes to reinstalling it multiple times, and I still frequently get said error. I'm not sure that there's anything in particular about any given program that cause CE to Sometimes I'll use it with a game just fine, and 20 minutes later load up CE with it and try to start a scan ... only to get that error. At that point it seems that no amount of reloading CE and/or the game will get it working quickly. It pretty much seems to be a "try again tomorrow" situation then.
I'd greatly appreciate your help with this one. I tried to give a decent explanation of the issue, but I'll certainly provide any further information that's necessary. My computer's basic info is as follows:
Intel Q6600 2.4ghz
3gb RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS (512mb)
Windows Vista Home Premium
Thanks,
~Nick

let me guess, dualcore or better ? (edit, seeing the system specs, quadcore, so yes)

Yeah, the Q6600 is one of the core 2 quad processors.
Thanks for the help! I can't be positive it's all good due to the unpredictability of the problems I was having with it, but after quickly testing it out with some of the worst offending games I've yet to see any errors.
Really though, thank you! This has been bothering me for literally 4-5 months, and while I had seen threads that mentioned multicore issues they always seemed to be talking about installation (which never gave me even the slightest hiccup).

well, another solution was to run ce on only one/two cpu core(s) (taskmanager, ce.exe, affinity, tick 1 or 2 cores max)
that'd fix it as well. But tt's a shame to not let the other 3 cores do some scanning
