the egg because chickens had to evolve from some thing such as dinosaurs. as we know dinosaurs evolved so they had feathers, so that means a dinosaur eventually evolved into a bird like creature, it then shit out an egg which had a chicken inside. So the chicken hatched from the ancient bird egg.......
