Cheat Engine

Whenever I try to modify a value nothing happens. I was following the tutorial in pinball and could not get it to modify my score, same goes with swords and sandals 2 (full version). Any ideas? I figure it might be a firewall or antivirus issue but I disabled them both and still no go.

If it's a online game, thats to be expected.
If it's a singleplayer game you might be editing the wrong value. (E.g the display value instead of the real one, or the converted one from float to integer)

no idea about symantic, but I know norton interferes.
Does the tutorial work ?

Can anyone think of anything that either Dell or symantec could be doing that would prevent the writing of values to memory?
