| So, I got my brothers old Nvidia 9800 GT but it won't find my monitors resolution. I tried to make the custom one but I get a squashed version with an inch or so black line on bottom and top. Any suggestions? |

| Download the nvidia tools or rivatuner and set the resolution manually. |

I did, that was the thing that caused the black line. The resolution is sorted now but there seems to be a vertical line of slight blurriness around 2 inches wide going down the centre of my monitor. Would the refresh rate be the problem? |

You did install gfx drivers right?
If he went from nVidia -> nVidia he shouldn't have to uninstall the old driver either. |

Nvidia specifically throws packages with drivers though, e.g I used the same driver (v295.xx) for my 260 as I am right now for my 560. |
