My friend who lives in another country is having random shutdowns on her laptop, they are completely random and it does not seem to be caused by heat.

I ran prime 95 with core temp and furmark with gpu-z and the temps were fine as far as i could tell, cpu maxed out at 79 and the gpu maxed out at 62. Also ran memtest and a hard drive read verify test to make sure those were fine (both came back 100% working no errors). What else can cause a laptop to shutdown? there is no battery in the system so I thought it might be the power adapter but i'm not to sure. any help \ advice would be appreciated.

Its a dell studio 1735 if that matters.

Bad battery can cause it. Tell him to keep it wired for a day and see if the problem ends.

doesnt mean shit if the adapter is bad. Im on a laptop right now and it keeps bitching to replace the battery and even on wire it shuts down from lack of power. So he should check that too.

I'm going to see her in a few weeks so I will check the power adapter and reformat to win7 64 bit. Just thought I would get some more ideas on what It could be.
