You have two PCI slots (should be alright). I'd just like to point out that there are better things to get with $90+ than a sound card, unless you're one of them crazy audiophiles. >:

Because the drivers suck for the sound card.

With that onboard sound, I'd skip out on the $90 sound card and get the speakers, saving whatever's left for a PSU and later, a better video card.

SPU's arn't meant to have fans so I don't see why it should be loud other then the music it sends to your stereo or headphones?

Onboard sound is handled via the cpu, therefore it uses up some of the resources when you play a game. And when that happens you lose some FPS.

Getting a sound card does not mean your an audiophile. Audiophile won't get these type of cards, they'll go with the professional series like
M-Audio.

For $90 bucks get a sound card so your cpu has one less job to handle.
You can go with something cheaper.

According to wiki the Audigy 2 SE lacks a DSP so it throws the work to the CPU.

Hey, listen if you want a decent sound card I just bought one for 75$ on sale it's called.

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio it's decent and it also includes the pins to connect your front panel mic/audio too it Very Happy I think it's worth it and I notice it does a nicer job and it works nicer.
