I have the Asus M3N78-VM

I want to get a Creative Sound Blaster X-fi XtremeGamer

But i don't know if i have PCI slot 2.1. Is it automatic that i have a PCI 2.1 slot if its a new motherboard or what 0_o

You have two PCI slots (should be alright). I'd just like to point out that there are better things to get with $90+ than a sound card, unless you're one of them crazy audiophiles. >:

Because the drivers suck for the sound card.

If i am using headphones will i notice a difference between that and some integrated sigmatel hd thing i got with my pc?

Its very silent which is good because my CPU fan is the loudest thing in my system T_T

Onboard sound is handled via the cpu, therefore it uses up some of the resources when you play a game. And when that happens you lose some FPS.

Getting a sound card does not mean your an audiophile. Audiophile won't get these type of cards, they'll go with the professional series like
M-Audio.

For $90 bucks get a sound card so your cpu has one less job to handle.
You can go with something cheaper.

i hear that that the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy SE is a good card but i hear that it uses software and not hardware to get sound.

According to wiki the Audigy 2 SE lacks a DSP so it throws the work to the CPU.
