Can i use this pedal as a main instead? Or do i still need the original one, in order to connect this add-on pedal.

If it doesn't have the purple input, it won't work. Im not sure about the secondaries, don't have one. |

Maybe it's because it's not made for Rockband. Rather, it is made for Guitar Hero.
