How do I cheat?

I use cheat engine 6.5 and whenever I open cheat tables, nothing happens. Whenever I drag cheat tables into cheat engine, an error saying "This is not a valid cheat table ("$X" is an invalid integer)" This is the same with every other cheat table I try to use and I tried the latest version too.

If this matters, when I download cheat tables, they never have the cheat engine icon but instead looks like the one in the image.
