How do I cheat?

So when I try to start the cheat engine, my computer asks me if I want to let cheat engine to make changes to my device, and I click yes. But then, absolutely NOTHING happens, the cheat engine DOES NOT EVEN START, I just get sent back to the previous window I was on. I tried re-downloading the cheat engine, twice, and nothing happened.....
Can anyone please help me!!!!
