Hi all,
I'm relatively new to these forums, but I am here today because of an issue I am completely stumped over. I am trying to chase this value down to the static base, however, when using the recommended memory address ("The value to the pointer needed to find this address is probably ...") I cannot seem to find the address itself using Cheat Engine. I have triple checked to make sure there are no errors, and there aren't. But for whatever reason, the recommended address just doesn't exist.
How can I accomplish getting the static base address? I am trying to do it manually so that I can better figure out how to fix this in the future, but if I have to use pointerscan, I will.
Thanks
PS: I would upload a picture, but I can't do that yet - so here is the link.

Try the instructions with +38 offset (i.e. search for 182C42B4).

Thanks, that seemed to work, but alas, it seems like this game is full of those kinds of traps.

Would you recommend just doing pointer scans?
EDIT:
Also, on a side note, am I just still a noob, or is there a way to turn a pointer into a static base address?
Currently I have Cash as generals.exe+62B600 + 0C + 38 as a pointer, but I see many tutorials always having the green static addresses rather than the pointers themselves.

Using the pointer scanner is almost always better than manually scanning for values recommended in CE's "more info" window.
In step 8 of DB's videos on the CE tutorial (link), he shows how to use the pointer scanner. See the video on step 6 for DB's brief introduction to pointers.

You can use code injection to get a dynamic address from an instruction that accesses it. Most tutorials use the term "injection copy" / "injection copies" if you want to learn how.

Will be moving onto using the scanner. I guess you can tell I'm still pretty new to this.
Thanks for all the tips!
