After I have launched the CE installer, which I have downloaded from github, has a valid signature, it tries to connect to rp dot ginihehen dot com and os2 dot ginihehen dot com in the background, which my Anti-Virus is blocking (ESET).

What is that and why is it trying to connect to such a website? I haven't found enough information about this topic with the google search.

I would appreciate it, if you guys have an answer for me.

Cheat Engine's installer serves advertisement side-install software that you opt. out of as a means to generate some income for Dark Byte. The installer downloads said needed information to display the ads, then if you choose to opt. into any of the offers it will also then download the needed software.

You can opt. out of all the advertisement stuff as you go through the install.

I guess that is called InstallCore when I am not mistaken?

I had nothing to opt in nor out. That might be due my AV blocking all those URLS per default, so the installer couldn't gather information.

One thing that confuses me is that, the current cheat engine exectuable, isn't legitimately signed. Hope he will get that sorted out Smile

If your AV blocked the initial connection to pull the ad data in to be displayed then yea the installer won't show it. I'm not sure what installer system DB used for it, as I generally don't use the installer version when upgrading/installing CE personally.
