Cheat Engine

I have been attempting to update to Cheat Engine 6.6

I am using windows 8.1 the 64 bit version.

Upon downloading and running the file for the newest version of cheat engine, I receive the following error message:

CheatEngine66.exe

Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
----------------------

Upon pressing the 'ok' button on this error, the install file for the new cheat engine is being deleted! It also is failing to show up in the recycle bin, which means something funny is going on with windows 8.1 and this new version of cheat engine.

I have tried running antivirus software to make sure my computer did not have some sort of strange virus, everything appears clean. I do not have any problems with the previous version of cheat engine. And all other programs are running fine.

Make sure you are downloading it from a legit source, ie the official website:
http://cheatengine.org/

There are tons of fake installers for it around the web that show up in Googles results / ads at the top, so be cautious when you download things.

That is the source I used for the install file

Just to be sure, I tried again, same result. I am unsure what would cause this to occur. It is the first time I have bumped into this particular error with a program. Usually it will error out, but this is running the file, and then the error message appears, then it deletes the file without any prompting. Odd stuff.

Avira? Wow.

I DO happen to have Avira installed and running! i'll try getting rid of that and giving it another go. Thanks for the advice!
