Cheat Engine

Ok so I have used cheat engine in the past so i know the basics. This time around though it isn't working at all, when I look up the process I want the name of the process is on the list but not the image. So I open the process, go back to game, check value come back to cheat engine and search that value I just get a sound and the search fail or just doesn't do anything generally. It isn't just one game either it's every game i try. I have also already tried doing various searches extreme and so on and I have designated a specific folder for scan results. Seems to me it just isn't linking to the games at all.
