I just downloaded and attempted the nine steps of tutorial plus watched youtube videos about using Cheat Engine. Somehow I still couldn't make any change in either 3 of online games I play.
What I did was simply find the address and change value. The numbers sometimes don't change or get changed in the game, but it returns to the original.
For example, I changed HP 300 to 5k and then my char dies at 4,700. Basically, it still applies the original 300 HP. The same game I also tried finding an address that represents the game money, the money doesn't change. So I tried touching the money if that could show the result from cheat engine, but the address disappears when the amount of the game money changes.
The other two games react similarly to that situation explained above. I know its probably because of the simple way I do "address & change value" that I should've done something more than that, but what is it

Online games usually save information to the server. When you change some value that is saved on the server, possibly you just changed the display value so it does not affect anything in the game.
To understand more search the internet for "Difference between client and server"

In most cases, online games will have very little that you can edit. Things like Health, Mana, Items, Mission/Quest progression and similar are generally going to be handled specifically on the server and are nothing more than a visual sent to your system and displayed. You will have no control over those things.
In some cases, data like your position, movement speed, and similar will be handled on your client because of the amount of stress and resources it requires to sync and enforce every players data for those types of things.
But that is where you need to think outside of the box and get creative.
I made a post similar to this response over on UnknownCheats:

For online games it's more about finding exploits and less about finding direct hacks like just changing your gold from 1 to 9999999.
