|Excuse any ignorance from me, first time posting on this sub reddit: As the title states, I am unaware if I should sell my current MacBook Pro 2011 15" for a lighter and a bit faster computer.
Specs of MacBook Pro 2011: Processor: i7 2635qm quad core 2.0 Ghz (boost to 2.9 Ghz) RAM: 8GB DDR3 at 1333 Mhz SSD: 128GB Crucial M4
The one computer I am interested in is the Lenovo X1 Carbon 3rd or 4th gen (not sure which one) or 2014 MacBook Pro 13" Retina
($700-800USD) 3rd gen (2015) specs: Processor: i7 5600U Dual Core 2.6Ghz RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz SSD: 256GB PCIe
($1300 USD) 4th (2016) gen specs: Processor: i7 6600U 2.6 Ghz to 3.4 Ghz Dual Core RAM: 16GB ddr3 1866 Mhz SSD: 512GB PCIe
MacBook Pro 13" Retina (2014) specs: Processor: i7 4770HQ RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600 Mhz SSD: 256GB PCIe
Is it worth upgrading to either of these PC's? The they both have i7 but they are dual cores as opposed to my 4 cores. I am aware my MacBook Pro has the 2nd gen i7 but still. The RAM speed to 3rd gen isn't that much of a step up either. The MacBook Pro looks good too but I want to make sure that there is some type of increase while carrying around a lighter load. Please let me know your thoughts!
