I use cheat engine on the game StarCraft II, and ever since the new expansion I've been unable to find a pointer. Using pointer scans yield no results and when I find what writes to the address, I get nonsense such as this 1401C39F3 - 44 31 04 98 - xor [rax+rbx*4],r8d, and this for 14036BAE8 - 8B 51 08 - mov edx,[rcx+08] accessing the address. Using the hex address that "probably works" as shown in the tutorials still gives 0 results, so I have no idea what to do at this point. How do I go about finding stable pointers for these addresses?

Now I have a series of other questions that isn't quite related to the first paragraph. Firstly, I must note that I use the built-in cheat codes that are available in campaigns and use them elsewhere, and the toggle values switch between 0 and 2. I also noticed that there is a 4-8 value difference between all the addresses, and that these address differences remain constant no matter how many times the game has been restarted. The problem is that there are also some of those cheat codes which cannot be toggled, they are a one time thing, such as giving resources and instant win, instant win being the one that I am particularly interested in.

What's the best way to go about locating the address for things like instant win? Is it best to do a scan for unknown value, use the command, scan for changed value and repeat? Or is there another, more efficient method? I tried the first method for approximately 50 iterations and I was only able to get down to 250,000 values, no where near enough to find a working address.

Also, the only built in cheat code that can be toggled that I cannot find any single addresses for is the fog of war (map reveal) command. I've performed scans of this multiple times and I always get down to the same result. There will always be several thousand addresses whose values are something like 2^(2^32), and then up to a thousand additional values in which I cannot find anything useful in. What do I do to find an address that'll actually work?

End note: If anyone would actually like to experiment with the game and test things out, there's a trial version of the game available which is offered by Blizzard, and below this paragraph is a link to the in-game cheat codes. All you have to do is use those in the very first mission of the first campaign (Wings of Liberty) and the values will start changing, but they will NOT work for any other campaign.

Thank you so so much to anyone who actually takes the time to address my issues, it means a lot to me that you've allocated some of your time to assist a cheat engine newbie, a newbie who's working his way to change that title to cheat engine expert! Thanks again.

Structure dissect tool is probably what you're looking for. Find the address of whatever cheat is working for you, then copy it and do memory view->tools->dissect data/structures. Paste your address in the address field and subtract -100 from it or something, then "define new structure", like 141592E8-100. Whatever you're looking for may be around that address in there.
