| I'm an engineer. As in, I can actually put that title in front of my name. I haven't seen a school or university in about four years now, and have been working parttime and fulltime for about seven years now as a software engineer. I earn a decent living and just bought my own apartment for 165500 euro's (roughly 184000 dollars). |

yes had my degree im working on not been in finance and had i not had my mom as a connection to secure a position for me right out of college it would have been a bit different story but the degree alone would have opened up a lot more opportunities for entry level positions. without this degree means no financial anaylist position or id be working that job right now.
the purpose of good grades are so that a good university accepts me for their masters program.
this degree and good grades do matter. but continue spewing what others say without any understanding of what it means cokefag. its like high school all over again when students repeat what they heard at thw dinner table the night before! |

i'm not talking about gpa with bachelors simply for getting a job. if i wasn't getting a masters degree it wouldn't really matter. like i said in my previous post the grades are for my masters. and i don't have these connections with professors so how else do i get into a good university for masters? a high gpa. |

I'm still in school with just average grades although I get A's on most of my tests because I suck at finishing all the busy work and I just want to make music. It's the only thing that really drives me and what I enjoy the most. They say uni music classes are not really the best way to learn because they use old methods, so right now I'm watching some video courses that kind of simplify it. BusyWorksBeats makes great videos for learning if anyone is interested. I still feel like I need some traditional learning as well though.

For me, I've built a decent size network of executives and people with influence in investment banking/consulting sector so buy and sell side. At this time they can get me a position either at UBS - but I'd have to move to Seattle or smaller firm in the local area, but I'd have to have a degree for them to help me. Problem is college had never been a thing for me. Right out of high school I started a few small ventures and working and did well for myself for a while. I wanted to get in a more professional line of work than just start a business for money. I didn't wanna build my life around the guy that makes a lot of money from a whatever business. I wanted to work in more fulfilling career - real estate development. Been working with some of the finest professionals in the industry and I love it. So this is the first year I'm going back to college. The pattern has been that school in general has never been something for me and it's not just me making excuses bc I excelled in other parts of my life - just school was very dull for me so I'm still trying to find a creative way to build value and track record to hire me without going through college. That's why I also asked you if you had thought of doing different finance jobs. If you are thinking of getting into real estate finance there is an organization that I would recommend you to join. It cost $440 just for a membership and the extra stuff can cost ranging from 15$ to even up to $2000. I think it's well worth because you'll be connected and building relationships with very very smart people not just specialists but also executives. I'll be meeting with the CEO of Colliers International sometime this week for example. These are non biased people - as long as you deliver and it seems like the general thinking here. So give it a thought.
