|
|
I recently re-installed cheat engine after assembling a new PC. It's been a while since I messed with this software so I was unfamiliar with the setup program.
Along the way I accidentally installed one of the 'bonus' programs in the install wizard and now my search engine defaults to Yahoo. (It actually goes through chrome, and then jumps into Yahoo.)
I'd like help figuring out what the source of this junk software is. I'm pretty sure that I installed AVG Zen, since I quickly read "End User License Agreement" and figured it was for Cheat Engine. Install Web Bar might also be one of the other extensions I accidentally installed.
Any help tracking down these programs would be greatly appreciated.

go to control panel->uninstall programs, and sort on most recent install.
The one(s) that caused it should be at top
You should be able to uninstall them there and perhaps see which one caused it.
If that doesn't work let me know so I can kick them out, and use https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/
and try this to change your default search back:
| Quote: |
In the top right, click Menu .
Select Settings.
Go to the "Search" section.
Click Manage search engines.
Under "Other search engines" you can: Add a search engine: Fill out the fields to set up the search engine. ...
Click Done.

(Also, make sure your browser is up to date. One of the most common reason people get issues is that they where looking for gamehacks earlier, and a lot of sites use attractive page titles related to gamehacks to lure in people, and then use a browser exploit to install crap)

Already tried uninstalling by most recent installed. I found a few programs which didn't look familiar, but the problem was still there.
And chrome currently has Google set as the default search engine, but it manages to change the search to Yahoo after I look up something.

You may also have to go into your browsers' settings and manually change the homepage.

| I couldn't stomp it out after trying several programs that I no longer remember. I just factory reset to get rid of it.
