Hey guys,

I lately ran into the following code
Code:
type
  TSomething = class
    name: String
    value1: String
    value2: String
    value3: DWord
    ...
  end;

  TSomethingElse = TFPList<TSomething>;


I don't understand what the last instruction is doing. I mean I know what the TFPList is, but I don't know what the <>-Syntax is doing.

Hope someone can lighten things up

it's a feature called generics. it makes dealing with different types easier without the need to typecast

tfplist is a generic list type. in this case it becomes a list type of TSomething

you can create that list type and then add items of TSomething to it, and also just index it and get objects of TSomething out of it
