How do I cheat?

So I know cheat engine is available for android but very limited so I've been trying to hack this game called Vainglory but I can't, the problem is that it seems thatthe value I'm chaing is READING another value and all I'm changing is how it looks. For example:
I have 5 essence
I find the adress (there is always more than 1, i keep scanning but it never ends in just 1)
Change it to 6000 essence
Try to buy somehing that costs 360 essence
"You dont have enou essence, play matches to earn...."
I update it and it says 6000 again
Try to buy
Doesnt work
I hope O made this understandable and btw essence is to create cards which are required for skins. Thanks, any questions leave them down below.

To solve this problem, start searching for other values. Maybe it's simply stored in another type, maybe it's a slight modification (e.g. flash's *8 value type), or maybe it's simply encrypted. Try starting simple and looking through the other value types. If nothing pops up, start doing unknown initial value then changed/unchanged value scans until you narrow it down enough to where you can test each one individually.
