Cheat Engine

Hi, I'm new to Cheat engine and my goal is to use it to force a game, specifically Transformers Devastation, to run in my monitor's native resolution.

This game is from Platinum studios, same who made Metal Gear Rising Revengeance which had a similar problem, someone made a patch for it though. I talked to the guy who made it via twitter. Here's what he suggested me to do, but honestly I'm having a hard time using Cheat Engine, I'm not a programmer, I'm a digital artist, any help would be welcome.

"If it has an in-game menu I recommend using Cheat Engine and seeing what values change when you change the resolution. If it's as dumb as Metal Gear Rising was, you should look for the res values in memory as floats. If they're indeed floats like I said, you might be able to find them in the executable. And you can find them with a hex editor by converting the floats to hex.

The more proper way would be using Cheat Engine's debugger which tells you where the values come from(which is how I found it)"

Might be easy for him, but I'm having trouble figuring this out... :/

so, can anyone help me with clear instructions on how to do this, which is to replace one of the resolutions with 2560x1440 values, and also, is there a way to save this so once I've figured it out I won't have to redo the process everytime I launch the game?

Switch resolution to 1080
-search 1080

Change resolution to 720
Search 720


Rinse repeat until value is found that you can change and changes the games resolution.

Do the other resolution stat.

Thanks for replying, but as I said I'm new to Cheat Engine, so that doesn't really help.

I don't know what a float is, don't know when and where to search for the right values, and know even less how to save the process so it can be repeated each time I run the game, or permanently implemented in some way... which is why I asked for, hmm, "help".

let's say I want to replace the 1920x1080 setting by 2560x1440... I'll just be very thankful if anyone can tell me how they would proceed exactly and answer my questions.

Float is an option when scanning. It's in the same box as "4 byte".

Search... when the game is running at that resolution. Like on the title screen or in-game or something.

You should be able to change without restarting the game. If you're running fullscreen, don't.

The first and third links in my signature have various ways to make codes that work. Probably the pointer scanner in the third would be the easiest.
