One Piece is actually not that bad. It combines many different genres in one series, and has a healthy balance of comedy and tragedy/drama. Every arc features brand new characters with brand new settings with brand new plot, so it is hard to get bored. The world and character designs are so unique and crafty so the designs never get old, despite being 726+ episodes.

The anime adaption has some problems such as animation quality and slow pacing, but the manga is quite possibly the 2nd best manga ever behind Berserk.

I think the show is fun, the voices are spot-on, and I don't believe a show needs the latest developments in animation to be good. Youtube animators like FilmCow prove that time and time again. I don't watch One Piece anymore due to a hectic schedule (and different lifestyle), but I rather enjoyed it when I still did. Went out of my way to watch this piece of the anime, and I liked it.
