| I was invited to an ugly sweater party, and I, being a rational adult, own 0 ugly sweaters, and am not going to buy something I know is "ugly" for a one time event. I also don't buy halloween costumes.

Piggybacking on this, I hate when people act like you're not allowed to disagree/dislike what people are doing. They throw out lines like "If it doesn't effect you, why do you care", as if it were a topic that was really weighing on your mind and is actively bothering you vs. you just disliking the fact that people are being dumb and wanting to voice that dislike.
You're perfectly allowed to dislike people being idiots, and I encourage you to talk shit about it. Ugly sweater parties are fucking dumb, the one I'm invited to has a prize for the ugliest sweater too, so I imagine there are some people who will actually go out and intentionally look for shit sweaters for the contest. Plus, with USP's being so prevalent (you seriously do see them all the time), sweater makers will start intentionally making crap sweaters, because that's what's selling.
I, on the other hand, feel like throwing a beautiful sweater party.

Not to me, I think everyone's activities and opinions deserved to be scrutinized, and people are little bitches if they think there's some reason why they should be exempted. Everyone should admit that they judge everyone else all the time instead of pretending like they're above that.

the only thing i disliked about all the shit going on in cef currently is the politics stuff, but that will stop once elections are over. otherwise what you post is fine, regardless of whether I agree or not, i don't discourage you for posting, and if I do im just trolling and being a retard.

tooo much shit that is far worse than a bunch of dildos wearing ugly sweaters circle jerking each other for the holidays or whatever day. I say let it be.
Ugly sweaters is like a spec of dust from other trash the media promotes.
Fucking hate the fact that people just give up on their health and just decide to sit there and rot or do other shit that would just speed up the process like cigs, etc. I wont lie I've done this myself but I never found myself happy/happier when I was doing this. I found more greater achievement in exercising than just wasting away with my thoughts.

another way of looking at this: imagine if like HackO said there was a "beautiful" sweater party. everyone would shit on people and call them pretentious trying to show off how fancy they are with their sweaters. it would become a joke on sitcoms "haha lol look were common people, how dare they have fancy parties *insert generic "posh" character acting like a douchebag*"
everyone here would agree with it and say not to be material, etc. its the same shit.
and Dib: your post makes no sense. the media doesn't promote cigs or letting your body rot. I see tons of commercials promoting healthy lifestyles, anti-smoking campaigns, etc. I'm not saying that ugly sweater parties are the worst thing in the world, Im saying its reflective and telling of the way the world is. their existence goes against what your ideals are, its one spec of dust that could be eliminated. Imagine the history books showing the tradition of getting ugly things to wear once, laugh at, win a prize for, and then throw away (god forbid you wear your award winning ugly sweater more than once, it would become too iconic, no longer ironic, only a literal joke itself)
