How do you determine that? I don't see any post-incident reports stating any of these mass murdering shooters have hospitalizations for mental health issues. If it's that easy to distinguish before hand why aren't pro gun control people shouting about the records afterwards?
Best I can find is this guy from this UCC shooting was discharged from the military after five weeks for failing to meet minimum administrative standards.
So what actual restrictions would have seen this mass murderer not receive a gun? Bearing in mind these restrictions would be applied to the whole of the people.
Isn't the murderer trope; I can't believe it, he seemed so normal.
Addendum* More research, searched for UCC Shooter background check, first three results say this murderer passed the federal background check. So before he decide to blast random people noone had any inkling that he would do it. So again what restrictions would have saw him without a gun? _________________

I have been written off as a paranoid delusional bipolar psychotic man for never ever having had any attempts of suicide or hurting anybody else, but rather, as punishment for mentioning NSA mass surveillance or Google tracking or camjacking. I've also been described as socially withdrawn, for having undergone a phase where I detached myself from everyone and everything, stopped eating at the school cafeteria, stopped taking the cab and started using the city bus, and withdrew from Student Council, the school's leadership club, debate club (Where I was an active speaker), and song writing club. I didn't do this because I was depressed or otherwise suffering emotionally, but everyone in terms of school and medical staff were desperate to prove that was the case.
With your logic, I can be denied access to firearms, which is not only immoral, but a clever way for the government to keep dissidents in check _________________

You say that as if I'm to believe this country wouldn't be a better place if you were someone who was disallowed firearms.
I'd rather it be extremely difficult for someone to get a gun than easy. Prove you need it, go through background and psyche tests, go through a waiting period longer than a damn weekend. To me, no one has a legitimate need for a gun in a world where the world powers have technological weapons far beyond what we even know, well better than gunpowder and steel. Guns are bringing too much harm to society for us to continue to be so lax on accessing them. |

Criminal activity is already banned. So, how would writing my name on a government list help stop crime?
| HackOtaku wrote: | | When an isolated, mentally unstable man can legally purchase the arsenal he requires for his attempt at infamy, there is a problem |
The fact that people are pushing to legally define and segregate the mentally disabled, and denying them their constitutional rights is beyond disgusting to me. This is not a solution to gun crime, this is bigotry.
| HackOtaku wrote: | | Even in such an unlikely situation, what's wrong with a stun gun/tazer? |
Stun guns and tazers are melee weapons, guns are ranged weapons. Melee weapons are difficult for elderly, children and women to use, due to the fact that you have to already have the upper-hand at close range combat to even use them in the first place. Guns are great because they are able to put an 80 year old woman on an even playing field with a 21 year old male mugger.
| HackOtaku wrote: | | "A gun is a tool and requires proper training and that's the sole problem" is not true. The problem is how easy it is to get guns, virtually anyone can get them, and that's why we keep having massacres. Massacres with guns. | You are 100% wrong. A gun DOES require proper training. The fact of the matter is, majority of the population of America has never fired a gun. Gun practices and gun safety isn't taught in public schools, so typically the only information the average child receives about guns is through movies, video games, and music. Children who didn't grow up with guns view guns as "cool" and something you commit crimes with. The reality is, guns prevent and stop crimes.
Let me ask you, has a public speaker ever came to a public school you attended to and talked about the proper guidelines, etiquette, laws, procedures, and the "dos and don'ts" of guns? If not, then the education system has failed you.
| HackOtaku wrote: | | The only legitimate reason I could see for someone wanting to own a gun is a shotgun/rifle for hunting. |
Guns are for protection. Without the snipers atop the White House, President Obama would be dead already.
| HackOtaku wrote: | | If you have a gun in your house, you're actually putting your family in more harm, because more often than not, a young person harms themselves or someone else with a gun before it's used to protect the family. When was the last time some dude broke into your house trying to cause harm? You don't need a fucking gun. |
I currently live in the slums of Indianapolis. My house has been broken into 3 times in 2 years. I own firearms to protect my family and am registered. I don't know anything about you personally, but it is obvious that you can't relate to this, and since you can't relate, you honestly shouldn't be debating the need for a firearm.
| HackOtaku wrote: | | So, we definitely can do it, slap an amendment 28: repeals amendment 2 and we're done. |
HackOtaku's Scenario 1: 28th amendment would take away guns from everybody, including police and militias like the National Guard. America is the largest terrorist target in the world, disarming the police would considerably cause a massive spike in successful terrorist attacks.
HackOtaku's Scenario 2: If you put a clause in it to just disarm the citizens but keep the police armed, you will see an incredible increase of brutality in the culture of police work. Democide will take more lives than ever before.

| HackOtaku wrote: | | tl;dr: No one really needs guns, American's just have an unhealthy obsession with them, which is why we have so many massacres. |
You have an unhealthy phobia of guns, Hoplophobia.
| HackOtaku wrote: | | I do believe they are unnecessary and cause more harm than good |
You're kidding, right? Why do you think we give guns to the police? Guns stop crime.
Fact: Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year or 6,849 every day. Often the gun is never fired and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed
++ Targeting Guns, Dr. Gary Kleck, Criminologist, Florida State University, Aldine, 1997
Fact: Every day 550 rapes, 1,100 murders, and 5,200 other violent crimes are prevented just by showing a gun. In less than 0.9% of these instances is the gun ever actually fired.
++ National Crime Victimization Survey, 2000, Bureau of Justice Statistics, BATF estimates on handgun supply
Fact: 60% of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they knew the victim was armed. 40% of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they thought the victim might be armed.
123
++ Armed and Considered Dangerous: A Survey of Felons and Their Firearms, James Wright and Peter Rossi,
Fact: Felons report that they avoid entering houses where people are at home because they fear being shot.
++Armed and Considered Dangerous: A Survey of Felons and Their Firearms, James Wright and Peter Rossi,
Fact: 59% of the burglaries in Britain, which has tough gun control laws, are “hot burglaries”which are burglaries committed while the home is occupied by the owner/renter. By contrast, the U.S., with more lenient gun control laws, has a “hot burglary” rate of only 13%.
++ Dr. Gary Kleck, Criminologist, Florida State University (1997) and Kopel (1992 and 1999)
Fact: Washington D.C. has essentially banned gun ownership since 1976 and has a murder rate of 56.9 per 100,000. Across the river in Arlington, Virginia, gun ownership is less restricted. There, the murder rate is just 1.6 per 100,000, less than three percent of the Washington, D.C. rate.
++ Crime in the United States, FBI, 1998
Fact: A survey of felons revealed the following:
• 74% of felons agreed that, "one reason burglars avoid houses when people are at home is that they fear being shot during the crime."
• 57% of felons polled agreed, "criminals are more worried about meeting an armed victim than they are about running into the police."
++ The Armed Criminal in America: A Survey of Incarcerated Felons, U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics Federal
In light of the above it is no wonder that rapists, muggers, home invaders, burglars, mass killers, wife-beaters, terrorists, white-sheeted bigots, stalkers, gay bashers, gangbangers and anti-Semites everywhere are in favor of a "gun ban."

_________________

I'm not going to bother with replying to every point, because you failed to understand a key point of what I'm saying, and I can't understand it for you.
But because you say things like
| Quote: | | "In light of the above it is no wonder that rapists, muggers, home invaders, burglars, mass killers, wife-beaters, terrorists, white-sheeted bigots, stalkers, gay bashers, gangbangers and anti-Semites everywhere are in favor of a "gun ban." |
I'm giving up on trying to have a rational conversation about this with you.

This thread in a nutshell:
I provide a countless number of well thought pro-gun arguments, meanwhile everybody on the anti-gun argument just want to spew the same "guns are bad because they are dangerous" cliche over and over again without backing it up.
Is there actually anyone on this forum for the anti-gun side of the argument who has some debating skills? _________________

The overwhelming consensus from anyone with a working brain is that it should be just as hard to acquire guns as it is with a vehicle and a license, however this must come from a democratic decision. It may never happen so as long as idiots have have an opinion on human life. _________________
