I get about 8-10Mb/s
If I lived about 200m further, I could get up to 160Mb/s

It's because they don't have jewcast or another multibillion dollar company internet. Comcast is the main company that aims to perpetuate this monopoly of internet speed they have. It is SO EASY to give better internet speeds these days, there hasn't been a legitimate reason why there is a disparity other than "We can, and it makes us A LOT OF MONEY." They have said it would cause server problems and other BS in the past but we all know why it is they are keeping better internet from people.
