The animation standard is waaaay higher than what it used to be.
Dragon Ball Z was never known for it's animation quality.
currently watching kai, the animation is still decent and fun to watch. the standard isn't higher, most anime looks like shit now. ill take end of evangelion animation over ANY new movie or series to come out recently, as well as ghibli things like mononoke-hime, those are still 10/10

There is quality in recent anime, watch Hunter x Hunter (2011), Parasyte, etc...
Kai is great because of the pacing is so much better, but I never gotten used to the filters to lighten up the colour platelet. Skin colour looks too pastey white in the Kai version. I also wish Funimation would bring back Bruce Faulconer for the soundtrack. _________________

So far, here is my angry fan rant:
Voice acting: The voice acting for several characters are atrocious, specifically King Kai. King Kai's mouth starts flapping excitedly, and his voice actor just speaks boring monotone. That is just poor voice acting performance. Not only that, but why does a 35 year old muscled out Goku sound like my constipated grandmother? What's up with the casting?
Sound: Where are the cool OSTs (Original Sound Tracks)? When Goku transforms and fights, we should hear a soundtrack! But we don't! Even the times when we do get soundtracks playing in the background, they seem generic and bad mood setting. Maybe I wouldn't have gotten so caught up in looking how bad the fight looked in episode 5 if a good soundtrack playing in the background would distract us. Goku's fight with Beerus would have been much more epic if they had a good epic soundtrack.
Pacing: The story is moving at a sluggish pacing. 5 episodes X 24 minutes = 120 minutes! If you look at Battle of Gods, we are only like 30 minutes into this movie! Chances are if you are watching Super, you have already seen BoG movie, so watching Super is just a waste of time.
Story Changes:They "changed" a few plot points, but they didn't change them for the reasons that you think. They made changes just so they can waste time and milk this arc. Why do you think Bulma's party is now on a ship? Because when Beerus crashes the party, you can waste screen time by showing us the boat sinking like the titanic and the characters without powers like Bulma and Pilaf struggling to stay on the ship. These changes are not geared to making the story better, but only to making the story longer.
Animation/Art: The animation might be the most disappointing part. Episode 1 was decent, I'll give it that. But episodes 2-3 looked like animated GIFs slapped on a powerpoint. There were way too many still motionless frames and the characters just looked wonky. Episode 4 was just weird with the thick line art. Episode 5 was atrocious in every aspect. The horrible animation is by far the worst in episode 5, as that is where all the screen shots I posted in this thread came from.
As a fan who has bought the DVD boxsets and attended Dragon Ball movies in theaters, I can say Dragon Ball Super has been a total let down so far.
Voice acting: All the old voice actors are there man. If you bitch about this, you should bitch about the old Japanese version of DBZ as well.
Sound: DBZ always had the generic soundtracks in Japanese. They wanted to keep the old feeling while bringing the animation into the new age (which admittedly gets worse every episode). The epic soundtracks were only present in Funimations' English dub of DBZ, who hired Bruce Faulconer to put some epic sounds into the series. Sadly though, Bruce Faulconer and Funimation had some disagreements, which means mr. Faulconer probably will never collaborate with Funimation again.
Pacing: This is what pretty much every series does, and what DBZ was the goddamn emperor of. Remember Frieza blowing up planet Namek? Mere minutes were smeared out over 10 episodes.
Story Changes: Sucks, but expected.
Animation/Art: I agree. But you sure picked the screencaps that looked the most terrible. Overal it was bad, but not as bad as the stills you put out. Don't exaggerate your point.
I get your point, but it isn't a fair point. In the 80s-90s animation studios didn't have nice things like Adobe Aftereffects that made animation so much easier. In 2015, animation is much easier to produce. Want to make mouth movements or hair blowing in the wind? Just put it in a different layer in your computer program. Want to make a gradient? Just make 2 clicks!
Not only that, but Toei Animation is one of the richest anime studios who own soooooo many Intellectual Properties. Namely, they own the rights to the two top selling manga series of all time, Dragon Ball and One Piece.
If One Piece and Dragon Ball are the best selling manga of all time, you'd assume that their anime adaptions are really good too, right?

Not every anime does it. Infact, the only ones that do that are One Piece and Dragon Ball, which happen to be both made by the same company.
And it is a shame, because Toei Animation has some damn good animators. Just look at these from One Piece
But Dragon Ball Super just looks like shit:
I don't think any of the old Dragon Ball animes looked this bad.

Even though these are the same voice actors, they are still very bad! Just pay attention to King Kai in Dragon Ball Super, they often try to animate him to be angry or to have emotion, but the voice actor fails to perform.

I have to disagree slightly bro-chan.
I can say with certainty that HxH, Parasyte, Shokugeki, and many more have excellent animation.

eh its just that the studio is badly managed. The bluray release is much better in animation. Its a shame they didn't pace it better so they didn't have to redo half the scenes _________________
