its been fine for me though there are software compatibility issues and driver issues all around due to... you know... it not being an official out of beta OS
Kaspersky causes bluescreen galore (with their beta one for win 10)
Dolby software doesnt work with realtek so i downgraded my sound drivers but thats fine they still work
I prefer it over 8.1 because i needed 4k support for me screen

I have a low powered tablet running full windows 8.1, and 8.1 runs smoothly on my tablet right now. I want to upgrade when it becomes available, but in your opinion would windows 10 slow my tablet down too much verus 8.1? And if it does slow it down a bit, would the pros outweight the cons?

Just like Vista there are some driver issues. Some application compatibility issues etc. But if you are a basic user and don't do anything but email and porn you will probably not notice any issues.

Windows 10 Requirements
| Code: | Processor : 1GHz or faster processor.
RAM : 1gig (32bit) / 2gig (64bit)
HDD Space : 16GB
Graphics Card : DirectX 9 (or better) compatible device. (Must support WDDM driver.)
Others : Microsoft Acccount, Internet Access |
Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are exactly the same in terms of requirements. Exception that they do not require a Microsoft account and do not require internet access.
Just give it a few months [at least] to get things worked out. There are going to be a handful of issues from the start. (Not as bad as Vista since they did actual open beta testing and such and listened to feedback.)

I dont have an SSD in my laptop, but superfetch isnt as terrible as it was in my installation of 8.1, which is a good thing... 100% disk usage is stupid
drivers are, as I said, not very up to date so you'll have issues until new drivers roll out...
Nvidia users should be fine
but as atom0s said for a basic user it's no issue
OH and windows defender is always on before you do a registry edit.... kind of annoying

Also for those that are anti-everything, do not install the Home edition of Windows 10. Home edition forces that you take all auto-updates from Microsoft without any option to disable them. Where as the Pro version of Windows 10 still allows you to control them.
They are watching...

Oh right I forgot to mention that drivers are set to auto-update, you can disable this in home, but the main updates are still a bit annoying, the best you can do is defer upgrades

I'm still on Windows 7 ultimate, It runs all the games and programs I desire without fault, and using a SSD completes a solid build. I see no reason to even "upgrade" my OS atm

DirectX 12 will be shipped with Windows 10, there is your reason.
