How is this logic horrible? How do you think ideas spread? If I smoke some dank ass weed for the first time, and I enjoy the high, I'm likely to tell my friends about it. Same with LSD, MDMA, shrooms, etc. And the same would apply to datura, if it was good, I'd be keen on getting other people involved.
However, if it was bad, I wouldn't really want to subject other people to that hell. This is, I believe, the case with datura. The high sucks dick, so no one really wants to use it, so there isn't really going to be any sense in trying to stop people from using it. (I don't know why the government is so obsessed with making sure people aren't enjoying themselves with drugs, but that is their prerogative. I blame Nixon.)

"safe" == doesn't kill you? Big deal. You imply, and a lot of other accounts of the experience that I have read agree, that the experience was generally a bad one. So, according to what I would say reason, perhaps? According the a simply "If, then" train of thought, that would lead me, and probably a great deal many other people, to believe that you sincerely shouldn't consume it.
Of course, since you really like trying your best to pick apart arbitrary points of arguments, technically according to no one you shouldn't consume it, because who is the ultimate authority on anything? No one. But I'd say most clever people would steer away from it.

I know it's a deliriant, and I've read enough stories of people losing control and not being able to tell heads from tails to know that it isn't my kind of flavor. People seem to end up ultimately more confused than any sort of enlightened, and that's why I think it's stupid, and that's why I'll call it stupid. I don't need a first-hand account.

Sure, sure, so is heroin, but that doesn't mean that heroin isn't mainly used by junkies. Also, you're not using it medically, so that's not really applicable.
tl;dr: "regularly toxic" means poisonous, which is a very real thing. "Safe" to use, maybe, I'll concede that to you, because you can "safely" ingest it, if by safely you mean "in such a way that it won't kill you".
My argument is it's stupid because the high isn't very good and it makes you generally confused, but I'm sure you'll retort with something along the lines of me not knowing what I'm talking about since I haven't actually experienced it first hand.
