Cheat Engine

OK Dark Byte,
Here is another question that suggests that I am sort of stupid. I am sure that it is something really simple to do...But when I ALT+TAB to another window (I.E. from DUNE 2000 to Cheat ENGINE and ALT+TAB back to dune I get a double screen (colors all screwed up). Also having difficulty getting the table to work. I have the table for DUNE 2000 version 1.06, and the table says it works with that version. I am sure it is a setting on my video card, but not sure.
I have WINDOWS 8.1
Display Adapter: AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics
Processor: AMD E-300 APU with Radeon Graphics 1.3GHZ
64 Bit operating system

Just not sure how to change from the game to windows and back to the game.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

alt-tabbing in old games is always weird (it's a directx thing)

Perhaps assigning a hotkey to ce to hide all other windows besides cheat engine might work better (assuming the resolution lets you use CE)

ope. It did not work. So Maybe if I load the game. ALT tab out and look at DUne.exe Wondering how I will be able to find the address for each structure build time (IE buildings (mostly harkonen, Since I love being the bad guy. Then to instantly or a second later, have the units to defend/attack).Since I cannot use the alt+tab thing, and cannot read the buttons or even see them, I am wondering if I will have to do this the old fashioned way...Just play the game with only the money cheat.

Thanks for your assistance. But if you happen to run across any hack or fix that gets around this alt+tab thing, I will appreciate it.

download not working?
Have you problem in configure it?
Have you understand that it is only a wrapper for CE?

h I downloaded it. I installed it.(Extracted it)
But when I ran it....My system told me that Quote:
Windows has stopped a malicious program from crashing your system"
Unquote
I tried opening it with CE. Same quote
I tried OPening the game, then opening CE and then opening SFRAP. Same quote.
Each time my system accesses the exe file windows prevents a system crash. So. Maybe this program hates windows 8.1.
Or perhaps I am not using it right.

Was looking on the site for an instruction manual, application instructions. Or some such thing, and I looked online for a "How to" instructions. Nothing.
Sorry, it is that I am not a computer programmer, or even an enthusiast. I am just someone who tinkers.

Well. Thank you anyway for your help.
If you have any more suggestions I would be grateful.

BTW you have to give to the program admin privilege, and the file is not dangerous: it is a false positive.....

here is how to install and use, please read carefull:
Installation:
unzip all the files in THIS dir: C:\SFAP\ at this stage ONLY works in this directory and on C: drive......
If you want you may create a desktop icon..... I'm so lazy... Wink

Now:
DO NOT load your game-tool... please wait.... Wink

run aat
click on "click to select your game-tool"
confirm the messagebox that will appears
run your favorite game tool f.e. CE (of course)
if your game tool just own an hotkey, please disable it!!!!
a messagebox will inform you that pressing OK will activete AAT!
now, INSIDE your game tool press the left-shift key
The hotkey at the moment is hardcoded: F10 or F12;
finally run the game you wanna to hack!
INSIDE the game press the "F10 or F12" hotkey: the game will freeze
and you'll be auto-switch to your game-tool with no problems...
now perform with your game-tool all the necessary operations:
select process, search for value, etc, then pressing again "F10 or F12"
to come back to your (now unfreezed )game.

Troubles!!!!

When possible, please run your game in windowed mode if it support
the options......
If your game run in full-screen mode, you may experiment that sometimes
the "F10 or F12" hotkey freeze the game, but nothing appears......
No panic...., simply press hotkey again and again....., sometime till
10 time is necessary to gain control.........
Other time after press "F10 or F12" maybe that: game is freezed, but your game
tool is only visible in the taskbar, or even not visible at all: at this point press the "Right-CTRL" key
and your game tool will popup...
Every time that INSIDE your game tool a window (a child windows in paticular) is NOT visible, please press
Right-CTRL one or more time.....
Another hotkey is enabled if you need drag a window (of CE f.e. who does NOT fit interally in 640x480): holding center mouse button+left mouse button let you move a windows where you need.
