Hi all,

This is my first post here and I spent 2 hours unsuccessfully trying to find a pointer. I looked at some tutorial with Mount and Blade example (I can't put URL's yet and don't wanna cheat by putting spaces in between the link) but it doesn't work for me.

I'm playing Ys Origin on Hard mode and all was fine until I discovered that the game repeatedly throws overpowered monsters at you to which you deal 1 damage and the only way to progress is grind like an idiot for hours, which I'm not very excited about. So I started to search for a solution and came across you guys and from what I've seen so far, I'm loving Cheat Engine, just don't know how to use it apparently...

So I'm trying to increase my god damn exp so I don't have to farm. After some trial and error, I came to the conclusion that if I use 4bytes search, it doesn't find the values properly, so I switched to float and it seems to do the trick. I found three addresses and put "find out what writes to this address" on all three. Out of those, only one seems to react just when you kill the enemy so I'm guessing that's the one I'm looking for.

I then looked at the "more info" and tried the suggested Hex but to no avail. I tried:
1. Turning off Fast Scan
2. Graying out "Writable" and "CopyOnWrite"
3. Switching to "float" and putting in the equivalent of the hex in float

Nothing works...
You can see the screenshot below.

Thank you in advance!

The address you're looking for does not require a pointer to find. It's a static (green) address: YSO_WIN.exe+2e95a8 (or 006e95a8)

Well, I tried changing that but my experience in game doesn't change so I figured that's just a place in memory where the exp is written but the one writing it is somewhere else...
How do I change my exp then?

Before trying to find pointers you must first find an address that changes when you write to it (or at least changes after you do something that causes it to update)

you had this other address at 035af970 at the time, did that have an effect ? If so, then try finding a pointer for that, if not, see if you can find it another way.
Perhaps the xp shown is the amount of xp needed till next level, or the amount of xp you gathered from the last level to next level, but the actual xp is stored as total xp gained

Whatever values I found, I tried changing them all (including 035AF970) and none stuck. They either go back to the current XP or just stay whatever value I give them and not have any effect. I chose the one mentioned above because the debugger catches it when I kill the enemy, while out of the other two I found, one is caught during every tick and the other whenever I swing a weapon.

EDIT:
Nevemind, using the sheer force of "hitting till it's the way I want it to be" approach, I got the right address apparently and wrote my own hack. Thanks for the very prompt reply and for the Cheat Engine obviously!
