I know it's been beaten into the ground for over a year already, but the new start menu continues to baffle me every time that I accidentally click on it. I'm simply flabbergasted that there is no longer an easy and quick way to search my computer or open a new program without completely hiding what I'm currently doing. It's like every single new feature in Win8 has the sole purpose of making it harder to multitask.
I could write a 1000 word essay on everything bad about the start screen, and all of the other Win8 "features". I have to hand it to Apple on this one. As plastic-y and horrible OS X is, at least apple doesn't periodically make it shittier for no reason. What was microsoft thinking?

the only thing bad about win8 is its UI.
what were they thinking? unifying the mobile and tablet market with their desktop market for ease of us. casual computer users don't care, and use the Modern UI. for them it was successful, and win9 will feature even better integration.

Windows 8 is the biggest piece of shit I have ever used. So much crashing, so much random breaking not working shit, so many inconveniences.
I spent like a week downgrading every PC on Windows 8 in the office to 7 and now it's perfect and everything works together.

I love Windows 8.1
I removed the start button though (along with the entire taskbar)...

| I don't like the way the Start Menu is positioned in Windows 7 either, so I auto-hide it and place it on the top of my screen, because it's so inconvenient having it at the bottom. Our eyes tend to see things that are right at us better than at the bottom of our eyeballs. Ubuntu understands that, Windows doesn't :/

Well, it's not like I want to see all the background apps running, and shit like that. The taskbar is something that's useful when you need it, but out of your way when you don't, and trust me, I don't need it that often.

| Windows 8 is fine because I don't use to live tiles. Listen to this though, I tried to downgrade and it said I couldn't, so basically they locked my laptop into Windows 8. I haven't looked into it though is there a way around this?

| I hate that there is no difference between files and applications. They are all in the same basket.

Haven't tried it myself but it should work.
To do this, search for HWSetup, then go to Boot Setting or Boot Menu (might be named differently for other computers but it should be somewhere in HWSetup).

i think the worst part is accidentally having a w8 app and the desktop open at the same time. Two skypes is double the echo
