It seems silly for a culture that bathes regularly. AFAIK, most Americans shower at least once a day - often twice if they exercise or do manual labor. Unless you poop way more than average, it seems like showering would be rather more than sufficient.

are you saying you don't need a bidet if you shower? buy some baby wipes and after you shit and wipe with toilet paper and everything, use the wipes, youll be surprised how dirty your asshole is.
the thread was saying that if you buy baby wipes you might as well save up for a bidet though, last longer and you aren't supposed to flush baby wipes, so its better for your plumbing as well
also, most people shower in the morning (your bed is dirty, so don't do it at night), so unless you only shit once a day right before you shower, and if you sweat, you'll be walking around with a dirty asshole all day.
it should be a standard, and I assume its better for the environment as well since less toilet paper will be used. and if countries didn't use ineffective ways of flushing their toilet (everywhere but japan, which has toilets more natural, squatting) then water wouldn't be an issue. plus, the water in your sink that flows out should go to your toilet bowl, helps on water too (popular in japan as well)

France and pretty much all African countries use french toilets (squatting), though regular toilets are getting more and more common.
I'm not sure if they're really more ecological though. Except for the 'outdated' African ones since you're not supposed to throw toilet paper in there.

If it were an important sanitary implement, it would be more common. As an aside, One Wipe Charlies (from the Dollar Shave Club) are flushable. I wouldn't be shocked to learn that at least some baby wipes are the same.
