Apparently it's pretty hard to learn. A lot of words are very similar to English though.

it seems fairly easy. Its like English and Croatian combined with much more G's.

Not a lot. The ones I am confident with are English, Dutch, and German. Albeit German is almost a given for Dutch folk, as the resemblance makes it very easy for us to learn.

I know a very basic amount of French, just enough to survive (ask for directions/help, introductions, etc). Due to the few months I stayed in Thailand I know a bit of Thai as well, but again, very basic stuff.

Yes, there is Algemeen Beschaafd Nederlands (ABN), which roughly translates to Common Civilized Dutch.
