do stuff against ourself because we think that we have to punish ourself because we've done something that isn't moral?

nothing can make you self-harm, it goes against instinct, morals are human made, you can choose to have them or not, so you wouldn't be able to do something subconsciously that doesn't exist on a subconscious level, morals and decisions based on them are entirely conscious. guilt exists as a way to steer you from making bad decisions in the future, its entirely up to you how you want to deal with it, some people self harm and others get over it
