Hey guys,

I'm trying to find the point for a money address. I've read a few pointer tutorials but none seem to be similar to my situation. My pointer seems to be unusual and so I have no idea what the next step is. I would really appreciate some help here.

Looks like your pointer should be this:

"X * 8 + ig2.exe + 59B110"

Replace X with 1 or another number
If there are more players (bots) then use a different multiplicator.
It seems like ECX could be the player index and from your screenshot I can see that normally it should be "1"

What kind of game are you trying to hack? If it's an online-game you can't hack it.

Thanks for your reply. It isnt an online game. Its an older space 4x game called Imperium Galactica 2.

I tried doing a 4-bit exact value NO fast scan hex search for 0059B110, but there were zero hits. The money value was a double if that matters. Also, what is IG2.exe? For some reason I thought it would be the money address that I used "find out what writes to this address".

Try changing the scan to 'all' datatypes.

Also try place the 0's infront of it aswell so 0059B110

Hm, are you sure that's the right address?

Scanning all gives me an error that it is not a valid value. Also, adding the zeros does nothing.

I think the address is correct. The money address I find only is a cosmetic change, meaning changing it only changes the money display, but not the actual money. Thats why I am looking for the address that writes to it.

Focus on finding the right value/address first...then you can worry about what writes to it. Start by performing a new search (of all value types). If searching for an exact value doesn't work, try searching for increased/decreased values.

Once you have found the address that actually changes your money (and not just the visual representation of your money), then you can proceed with either finding the pointers and/or injecting code etc. The reason I say this, is, the instructions that write to or access the visual representation of your money, may or may not be the same instructions that handle your actual money value. There is likely to be a common instruction that accesses both, but it is best to create habits that could save you time in the future.

Im stuck here. No idea what to do. Using a exact value or a decrease/increase gets me the same address. Doing a change/no change would be impossible with my game. I even used a different editor (ArtMoney) but it gave me the same address. Any ideas? There is a trainer that supposedly works for my version of the game from cheat happens, but for some reason it doesnt work on my computer even when changing admin priv. and compatibility. Sigh I just wish I knew how it worked.

there is a torrent for it on kickass torrents. Just type into google "Imperium galactica 2 torrent", it will be the second result. Use the torrent that has 20 seeders. You only need to download "Imperium Galactica 2 install disk.ISO" ~550MB

i tried doing a change/no change, it would have taken days.

Well, if you had the game you would know it does take a long time to do a change/no change with an unknown initial value. But apparently your like the aliens in Independence Day, no Anti-Virus software. I've downloaded many torrents including IG2 with no problems whatsoever.
