let's hope that lasts for a good while before tolerance makes it blander an effect and you start to consider not taking it anymore only to find that it literally is one of the heaviest addictions on the planet both physically and also mentally for most people and you're just taking pills daily because you need to or you'll get unbearably sick/depressed and possibly even run a risk for seizures depending on which one you're taking and how much you're taking

I got anti-depressants and therapy when I was a kid because I had PTSS. I witnessed the funerals of a dozen family members in a time span of roughly two years. This included my mothers funeral, which pushed me over the edge. I couldn't even cry when she died because I was dead inside. I started doing stuff that was life threatening because it gave me a thrill, like crossing a highway on foot, or having a gunfight using air guns (not necessarily deadly, but if you get shot in the eye it could definitely be a threatening situation, and you'll definitely bleed no matter where you're hit).

The combination of therapy and pills helped me to become a somewhat normal person. I never once experienced anything close to an addiction. I actually had a somewhat decent psychiatrist(s) though.

I'm glad for you OP, I hope they'll help you overcome whatever you are currently ailing.

you didn't mention which one you took or how much you took, you also seem to be implying (correct me if i'm wrong) you took them short-term while i'm referring to SSRI withdrawals which is mostly a long-term phenomena (months+)

I don't hate on them and think they're guvernmint poisin maaannn but they overall are more trouble than they're worth unless you're part of a very niche intended userbase, their mechanism of action can be classified as unnecessary for most people (again not belittling anyone's problems, i'm not here to start a fight i just don't like the retribution of drug use in any form) because it is sort of like a woman having an operation to become infertile because she doesn't like her period, if that comparison makes sense to you; they work heavily on the receptors responsible for your emotions in a way that does much more than just dull any negative thoughts you may be having

Well it's about ten years ago now, so I have no clue what they gave me. If I'm not mistaken I had to take pills (don't remember how many) before breakfast, and before dinner. I had medication and therapy close to a year (third year of high school). The medication was to stop me from doing anything reckless, which they blamed on me seeking a thrill because I blocked any form of emotional response. They feared I would eventually kill myself, even though I didn't have a death wish. At the end of my therapy they also told me that when I had my first talk with the psychiatrist, I was smiling when I told them about when and how my mother died. My stepmother thought it was creepy. I felt nothing, and had no idea how to properly process anything traumatic. Next chance I get I'll ask my (step)mom if she can remember what it was I took.

I'm not advocating that pills are the answer to every mental illness, but they could definitely help a person. Your posts showed him the bad side post-treatment, mine showed him the positive side post-treatment.
