No, it's not okay. Get something that's rated 80+.

				| It looks good for the price, don't expect it to last forever though, and be cautious of house fires and shorted parts | |

				| If you go for a 80 PLUS certified the cost will be much higher, sure it's better but I think the one you link to is fine. | |

				| Looking at the description plate (BK stands for black, same PSU but with different painting): http://www.2cooltek.com/images/D/PS550E12XBk_lable__54539.jpg it's actually a 400W PSU, but like every lame brand, they display the peak power instead of the continuous power. This is typically the one type of psu & brand I avoid when I build my computers, because I want to keep them working for a long time (5+ years).
If it's for your "radeon 5550, intel pentium 2.93GHz dual core" rig it likely has enough power. But make sure you're ok with replacing this PSU in probably 2-3 years. Think about it, maybe you'll want a whole new computer by then.

I trust you, knowing that a single 7990 alone eats up to 570W under full load so 2 of them on a 400W PSU? Saaaafe. | puresick wrote: | | I have this PSU, I recommend it, I'm running it with crossfire 7990's. |

 It clearly states a powercolor devil 7990 uses 500w+. A 7970GHZ edition (overclocked) uses 250 - 270w at 100% load.

Don't buy a cheap PSU. OCZ, Corsair, Seasonic, Cooler Master. All brands to consider. If the PSU blows up badly it can short out the rest of the pc, and kill it all. A good PSU will stop that kind of stuff. Also, no more than 2 12v rails, 1 is preferred.

So we both agree that it is unwise to power several 7990's with a 400W PSU, don't we?

And thinking again about it, 2 cards that eat 250W each at full load on a 400W psu isn't safe either imo.
