Greatest person there has ever been in my life. I was struck with grief for a full week, and still feel sad thinking about the loss. She lost three daughters and a son, with one daughter that is still terminally ill, yet never went into depression. She was sad about the loss, but wouldn't let it ruin her life. If I ever needed advice on something, she was there for me.
After her death I also learned that she had cancer in her vocal cords, yet she requested from everyone in the know not to tell me about it. Whenever I heard her coughing she said it was the aftermath of a serious cold she had. She always had my best interest at heart, and I will forever keep her as the example of a perfect human being. I would gladly be in debt for the rest of my life if it meant I could spend another day talking to her, and regret not being at her place more often.
Thing is, I didn't even know that I would get such a relatively large sum, because there are about ten people who all would inherit the same amount of money, with her one remaining daughter getting the biggest part of it. I figured that I would maybe get a few hundred at most, and didn't want to talk about it with the guy dealing with the inheritance. Mostly because it made her death so definite. So when I checked my bank account yesterday, I was quite surprised. I even called my uncle to verify that the amount was correct.

my grandfather has been deteriorating for years now and now he's more horrible to be around than ever. he is mean to everyone and disagrees with whatever anyone says, and everyone hates him and wishes he would just die already. He is currently wasting all his money on 24/7 care.
The scary part is, what if he just doesn't die? What if he lives to 100 like most of my other family members? that would be a fucking nightmare.
it's really mean, but I kind of feel good to get that out.

I can sort of imagine that, if he's being really horrible and you didn't really have a bond with him.
I'm not saying you are doing this, but I felt like saying this because you started about him wasting money: I loathe people who wish people would die so they can get their money, acting as if that money is theirs by right. If someone wants to spend all their money, however horrible they might be, it's their fucking right to do so. It's their money. Even thinking they should die so you can get their money makes you a far more horrible person than they could ever be. People who act like they were wronged when they get nothing from the inheritance should be burned right on the spot. Horrible human beings. It's a final gift, not a right.

Yeah dude I totally agree, you see in my grandfather's case he is hiring like 4 aids privately so he can live in his big apartment, and what's going to happen is his insurance is going to run out and he's not going to have money to pay for a nursing home when the time comes (he really should be in a nursing home now). which means he will have to go someplace medicare approved, which is bad.
or something like that, anyway. that's what I heard.

I know exactly how you feel Phox. My grandfather was very nice but in his last stages we realized he had Alzheimer's and he would shout and be mean to the kids but felt really bad every time he yelled at them. It came to the point where he thought he was meant to be in another country and would leave the house asking for directions, so we had to keep him in. Once we locked all the windows and doors and he ended up escaping through the window! I felt really bad when he passed away, skinny as a skeleton, but deep down I was also glad, that he was out of his misery.
