I recently replaced my old Geforce 210 card for a brand new Radeon 5670. VGA port works fine but DVI port doesn't seem to be working. I'm using a VGA to DVI adapter which used to work on my old card.

After searching around I learned about the different kind of DVI connectors (DVI-D and DVI-I) and by comparing the shape and number of pins I've identified mine to be DVI-I which should work with adapters as it supports analog signal. Similar to my old graphics card.

The dvi on the card is probably a single link, and your adapter is a dual link. I don't think it will work.

I dont think it's single link, it's identical to the adapter/ old GPU card.
Or do they both look the same ?

Dual has more pins than single.

Why on earth are you still using VGA?
How is a 5670 brand new?
How many DVI outs does the gpu have?
Have you gone into your display settings and checked if you have to manually set which display type it uses?
(Could be windows cpanel, amd cpanel, or even the monitor settings menu, they all should work automatically but with hardware that old who knows)

Unplug all monitors (from integrated and Radeon card). Plug ONLY the DVI slot and test. Be sure to have all Radeon drivers up to date.

already tried that, no signal at all even during post.

Edit: I tried to look for some help on the website provided with the card's documentation and the card's model number is only available in the South America region.

Are you trying to run 3 monitors, simultaneously, off of this card? If not, just get an adapter for the DVI so that it will run in the HDMI or VGA slot...cause it's possible that your DVI slot is bad.

I'm trying to run 2 monitors, already using the VGA for the first monitor.
I"d like to make sure the DVI slot is bad because if so I'll demand a replacement.

Ah. I assumed a replacement was out of the question. If that is not the case, get it replaced. Not much else you can do aside from ensuring that you have the proper DVI connector and that it is working properly. If it's cheaper and returnable, I might pick up a new DVI connector before shipping the card out to test.

I know I am stating the obvious here, but...

1. The monitor has been tested with the same cable and is working on 2 of the 3 ports. Then the monitor and monitor cable are fine. Check.

2. The card has power and is working properly on 2 of the 3 ports. Check.

3. All drivers are up-to-date and properly installed. Check.

4. The DVI slot is not receiving a signal. We know it's not the monitor/monitor cable. We know the card has power and is functioning. And we know that it's not a driver/software issue. So, we must assume that the problem lies with the DVI connector or the DVI slot on your card. Replace what you can and run a test.
