I know it was, but still, pretty funny regardless. No point in buying it as it literally provides no benefits besides pre-spending your money. |
Better to begin items as opposed to sitting on 400 gold when backing.

I had 401 gold.
Mana crystal is 400 gold
Amp Tome is 435
That would have been 10-15 seconds wasted waiting for gold as opposed to building an item for the same end game item and moving on to the battle.

there's no justifying the mana crystal, it was a complete waste. only thing is, it was a small waste so there really isn't any reason for nitpicking.
the reason it's a complete waste is because you don't get a single benefit from it. it would have been better to buy pot/elixer/ward instead, go out and kill a creep, or simply not spend the gold at all, since you don't know what's going to happen within the time it takes you to get that extra 800 gold for sheen.
like i said though, it's a subtlety, so it's nothing to make a big deal out of.
