Seems like it's going quite nicely.
A lot of small timers have been messing up the concept of Anonymous, but this op seems to be the real deal.
Making the feds think they got their site back, but hiding a game inside == awesome.

The death of that hacktivist is what triggered the Op to start, yeah.

Basically, Anonymous is taking control of a lot of government assets and released a bunch of (for now) encrypted data on judges (seemingly, the files are named after them).
They're demanding law reform without negotiation or they'll release what they have.
They supposedly have insider access to dozens of locations, and already removed all traces and tools they used to gain access, so they won't be retraced.
To show their brawn, they took over ussc.gov. It got shut down a bit later, and brought back up because the gov thought that they had control over it again. They did not. Shortly after it went up again, they changed the site so that if you entered the Konami code, the site slowly moved off screen showing the guy fawked mask behind it, and a game called Asteroid became visible. A bit later, site got shut down under the stress people wanting to play gave it . It's been down for 4 or so days now.

Some more info I didn't manage to put inside that story without messing up:
The files were initially distributed using that very same ussc.gov site, but now removed afaikt.
The death of that guy was the start because they "crossed a line", but this had been in the works for some time now.

He committed suicide after they wrote him down for 50 years in prison for a non-crime. They mentioned some other forms of legal bullying, but I didn't read about that.

Not legal, thanks to some outdated laws.

What he did, if I read it correctly, is access something he wasn't supposed to read. He was working for some company, and was given access to things he wasn't supposed to. He read it. So they slammed a sentence on him for illegal accessing of data or something like that.
That on its own would've been a few years, I think.
The thing they did, however, is slam that punishment on him for every pageload.

I might be misinformed, though. I hear a lot about crappy legislation concerning IT, so I might jumble things up. And honestly, I don't care that much. It's 'MURICA anyway.
