Laptops are big, heavy, more expensive, and generally have a shorter battery life.
Tablets are easy to carry around and can be used as GPS. They are also faster than most laptops, and don't have the usual problems computers have. They provide a very smooth experience compared to computers.

That's pretty biased.
I have a 14" laptop that weighs nothing noticable, was $350, and can run most of my games on lowest settings without a gpu.
The battery is decent if I'm not gaming, but I usually have it plugged in anuway.
There's no touch screen, but I can do so much more than a tablet.
The hard drive is probable 200x larger, and it boots from standby in like one or two seconds.

Oh, wow, that's pretty good.
But for me that's not so important. I don't plan on playing any games on it, just watching movies, using it as a GPS and some basic internet surfing. Maybe use it to take pictures too. I don't need any of the other functions a computer has. The more portable, the better. Don't need much memory either, as long as it has enough to hold like 10 different movies I'm fine.
I was gonna buy a little netbook first but decided I've had enough of all the frustrating problems computers tend to have.

i remember 4* ttfaf on expert and my 13-14 year old friends shitting themselves being like "this is sum internet shit"

On rockband 2 I have done the infinite setlist twice. once on drums and once on guitar, both on expert. got the steel bladder achievement too. (go through the entire setlist without failing or pausing)
