give me some tips or know any tutorials/exercises I should do to get more familiar with the pen tool?

Clubs, teams, groups, etc. are now asking me to design t-shirts for them and I thought I should learn how to vector and what not so I can draw my own designs instead of just slapping in some text and brushes.

Here's a MLP trace I did for practice and I don't know why the fuck it's so abnormal.(f5)

You're also using PS not flash.

Pen tool has more control over curves and stuff. It's useful for tracing complex things, but the line tool is generally more useful for stuff like cartoons.

Because you didn't use the pentool properly. You need to make sure that when you use it you keep the curve consistent, because it's much more precise. Cryoma's way of doing it is not precise at all and only works with singular curves. The pentool is really useful to get good with in a LOT of situations where as the linetool in Flash is pretty much purely good for making lines. That's it.
