Hi all,
CE is a nice piece of software, but don't know if you are aware, around there is MHS (Memory Hacking Software) from L.Spiro that from my point of view is some light years ahead of CE in terms of functionalities, gui and other...
L.Spiro is not developing it anymore but in his forum he is releasing the source code.
I have no enough development experience to put my hand on that source, but maybe somebody from this forum can think about it...

Why would anyone from here want to take over a project that has no use to them when they already have Cheat Engine?
Sorry but MHS is far from "light years ahead of CE".
Aside from MHS just copying everything in CE, what makes it so special? I see nothing on the features page unique to it that CE doesn't already have, or have the ability for the user to create.
Let alone, CE has been open source from (or at least close to) the start.

MHS used to have some nice quirks that CE didn't but CE has evolved well beyond it now.
Also...what's the point in maintaining development of something? What does MHS do that CE can't? I fail to understand why you want to get something up to speed of CE when you don't need two applications that do the same thing.

obviously my opinion is completely different,
and honestly CE seems an application coming out from when windows 3.1 was around..
Why I asked and why somebody should be interested? because could be that also other people saw MHS and agree is a good application and doesn't want it to be abbandoned, and me is one of this people.
Unfortunately I have some C++ knowledge and I tried to look into the source, but the best I was able to do is remove all the compiling error and see it working on my pc under Visual Studio but then I have not enough experience to go ahead modifing it...
Also... I have the suspect you guys are answering just after have seen the features page...
try to download it and use it for a while and then come back and says your real opinion
Anyway, anybody is free to have it's own idea
thanks for the reply

I have used it, it has nothing special in it that makes it better then CE or makes me want to switch from using CE.
If the gui look is your only defense to MHS being better, good luck getting anyone to help you.

it was expected, l.spiro was/is working on his game engine that is his main priority, always was. So like he said himself, he couldn't give it his attention forever.
It would also be pointless to work on MHS when they can already do that with CE. CE is open source as well and got an active community, mhs lacks that.

I started out using MHS and CE for months at the same time. MHS just gradually faded away. Im not saying MHS is a bad tool, but i used what suited me at the time and stuck with it. Plus DB is constantly updating and fixing any reported errors. He is a good monkey when it comes to keeping us happy.

as everybody (not only you) seems to prefere CE, I decided to do the same, to use use both CE and MHS for a while and see in which areas one is better than the other.
thanks you all for your opinions

Yes, it is a bump, but it was around my birthday.
Developing MHS was a fun and rewarding experience, but was not something I planned to keep doing forever.
I moved on to my own personal game engine which I intend to use to start a middleware company, and at the office I work on this engine.
MHS borrowed from Cheat Engine, and Cheat Engine borrowed from MHS.
The only 2 people who know how far that goes are Dark Byte and myself. Dark Byte has listened to complaints about what MHS does better, and I have listened to complaints about what Cheat Engine does better. We have both adapted our models according to the pros and cons of the other developer, and ultimately I feel that we are on equal terms when it comes to borrowing functionality. We have even talked on MSN about what functionality to share and make it easier for people to switch between our softwares.
My life keeps moving forward, and after moving to new countries and new positions within companies I have been forced to move on from MHS.
I do have new projects relevant to my current career that take any possible time for MHS support off my hands, but MHS was a major player in the way that Cheat Engine ultimately turned out, and I am proud of that.
Good luck with Cheat Engine.
L. Spiro

1)It's not free.
2)It's expensive.($50.00 is a little bit too much even for a undetected memory scanner).
3)At least secure your system more.I got all the licenses of the users using your engine in only a few minutes.
